Neckwarmer/scarflet thing and Ravelry
I took some pictures of this neckwarmer I made last December so I could add them to my notebook over at Ravelry, which is an awesome site that lets you catalog and share your knit and crochet projects (both completed and in progress as well as the ones you frogged!), complete with drop downs for details like yarn, hook/needle size, colourway, and tons more things. Ravelry is still in beta, but if you’re interested, leave them your email and you’ll get an invite when they are ready for more people.
Back to the scarf: I don’t like yarn scarves very much because they don’t often tuck nicely into jackets, and I feel sloppy with the ends hanging out. This was a nice compromise for warmth without the extra yarn, and it was nice to have a small project to take on a long train ride followed by a long bus ride. Joe and I went up North to visit his family last Christmas, and since I’m totally acclimatized to the mild coastal weather here, I hardly ever dress appropriately for the weather when we visit. This was just the thing to fill the gap between my coat and hat during the trip, and it’s even nice to have on a rainy day to keep raindrops from sliding down my neck (I hate to carry umbrellas).
I love the pattern stamped out on the underside of these buttons, and this colour combo. The best part is that since they are plastic and the scarf is made with SandnesGarn Lanett Superwash Merino, I can wash it without worry. I love Lanett, it is one of the softest, smoothest, and most plush fingering weight yarns I have ever felt. If I didn’t have so many other things I’d like to finish and make first, I’d love to make a striped cardigan from Lanett.
